For Right Care Action Week 2017, RCA members Selwyn Rogers, Art Curtis, and Johanna Ryan are joining with members of their community to brainstorm solutions to high health care costs. They are holding a Community Conversation on Thursday, October 19, at the University Church in Hyde Park, Chicago from 6:30-8:30pm.
“We thought Hyde Park and the South Side might be the best place to plan a meeting, in part because of the activist movement that won a desperately needed Trauma Center at the University of Chicago,” said Johanna Ryan. The group hopes that this community conversation will help gather more supporters and learn about the biggest problems facing local health care consumers.
As chief and founding director of the trauma center and executive vice president for community health engagement, Selwyn Rogers understands the importance of involving the community in health advocacy and activism. This event is another way Rogers is working to “understand and help address the broader challenges that go beyond the hospital walls.” And rounding out the leadership team is Art Curtis, who is excited to take action after spending a significant amount of work on writing about overuse in his specialty.
If you or someone you know in the Chicago area would be interested in attending the event, pass on the flyer (above) or contact RightCareChicago@gmail.com for more information!
